The department has the objectives of evolving, advancing and enhancing the fundamentals of Information technology with a view to building interest in students for specialized research; to guide students in the development of newer languages and creating the ability in them for better hardware production.

The focus is on the development of all courses inculcating job - oriented, value based quality education in Information Technology and commercial application development. The students are well versed in Micro computer system and software development blended with quality interpersonal and professional skills.

At the B.Sc. level the department offers the three year undergraduate program in Information Technology and Computer Science and Technology; the M.Sc. degree in Information Technology and a five year integrated degree program in Computer Science and Technology.

The curriculum reflects the depth and width of Computer Science. Emphasis is laid on practical understanding of technology. The students are trained in critical areas like programming, networking, web systems, information management and human computer interactions. The class rooms are designed with an IT environment and equipped with projectors.

The labs are internet connected and students are given a broader technical understanding of current and emerging technologies in the IT field. They are also introduced to systems engineering concepts and given a solid grounding in the technological basis of the internet.

All students visit industrial houses likes Infosys and Maples with a view to getting practical exposure that will place them well in their careers.

The Department enjoys good relations with some of the top IT Companies like CTS, WIPRO, INFOSYS & HCL. Seminars, Symposium and Workshops are conducted to keep students updated with new technologies of different industries.
